3D Concepting - Vehicles

This week we worked up concepts for vehicles that might be in our game. I chose to do different variations of a marketplace vendor cart. There are several pieces that were used in all four.

Using Maya for Concepting

Using the toon shader in Maya to simulate the the blueprint look as in Sketchup, I modeled a bunch of modular props to move around and explore spaces for our environments in our Capstone game.

Choices Have Been Made

These were chosen from the 12 designs from last week. Now we take these three and polish.

I took these back into ZBrush to give more detail. Afterwards, the gray ZBrush render was taken into Photoshop for coloring.

I am really happy with the way these turned out. I gave them the time they desrved, and I think it shows. My favorite is "F."

Insert Brushes

"They say time is the fire in which we burn."

I pretty much doubled the time I have spent in previous weeks and still feel like I didn't spend enough time on this part. I would have loved to spend more time on polish, but the life of an art lead won't allow it. Based on feedback, I had to go back and remodel 8 of my 12 designs to follow more of the chosen concepts for our capstone. And while modeling insert brushes is fun to say the least, rework ate up a bunch of my time.

Time * Time * Time

So here they are - this week's refinement of concepts:
